I purchased this book to help me study for the science CSET. I already have a California credential in English, so I've used resources in the past.This book is littered with errors (grammatical and informational), was designed without organization, and will not be of any help in studying for the CSET.Also - the return policy was through UPS only (not USPS, my preferred method), which makes it a lost $30. Wish it was easier to return, like everything else on Amazon.
This life sciences book was perfect for the Life Sciences CSET (217). I had already passed the General Science CSET (215) that is also included in this book, so I can't speak to its usefulness. However, the Life Sciences portion followed the outline for the new science CSET where other books I looked at only had information included on the old test. Super easy to read and broken up into sections nicely. This was the only book I used to study for the CSET and I passed! Would definitely recommend.
Good for life science, but not for general science! I'd recommend getting a separate general science study guide since this book mostly focuses on life science. It's a little disorganized and repetitive, but I recently used it as my only study aide for the CSET and I passed the first time, so I'm pretty satisfied. This gives a general overview of what you need to know and is not very in-depth, so if you do not have a background in science already, I wouldn't recommend using just this book as a guide. In regards to the grammatical and spelling errors, they're not hard to figure out and if you're confused you can just do a quick google search and be fine.
