Great translation for daily reading and comprehension, but tiny font and print that goes in too close to the spine of the book are making me look for an alternative to this binding/edition.
NLT is a great modern translation. However, the binding for THIS bible is pretty bad! It's so tight that I struggle to see the text closest to the spine.
I loved this bible. I turned it into a study bible and even added tabs to help me with my readings. Price so good I order one as a gift :) I could not give a full five star because I do find times in which I am unable to see the entire page due to the binding. So when I open it I have to maneuver it to see the words closest to the spine.
For a gift bible, I was amazed of the quality of this bible. I cynically bought it for myself and not as a gift bible. I wanted an inexpensive bible that was easy to carry around for when I'm doing ministry activities and one I could mark up and not worry to much about it getting scuffed up or marked in.My only complaints would be the words being very small. I wear glasses and it was still really small to me. The other thing is the words go to far inwards towards the binding. This makes it harder to highlight or underline verses and in some cases see all of the text without bending the bible open in a way that would eventually break the binding of the book.Some pluses for this book is the great look. The quality leather or imitation leather cover. The high quality pages are nice and thick, which make it great for highlighting without worrying about it bleeding through.For around ten bucks though this a great deal. It seems like a more expensive bible then it is. One of the best budget/gift bibles I have come across.
This Bible had all of the features I was searching for:Jesus's words in redDescription at the beginning of each BookChapter HeadingsSoft, attractive coverI was reluctant to switch from reading the NKJV to this translation, but my husband strongly recommended it. I am so glad I did. I spent many years reading and skimming here and there, but not fully comprehending the Bible. When I switched to this translation I was very critical of it at first. The wording is not as poetic as the NKJV or KJV. Some of the most widely known and loved Bible verses are worded differently in the NLT. But, I decided to start at Genesis and read my way through the Bible. At first I read NKJV and NLT side by side Chapter by Chapter...but this was taking so long, so I switched to just the NLT (this Bible) and breezed through the Bible, absorbing more knowledge and information than ever before in my life. I am so thankful for this Bible for expanding my knowledge of the stories of the Old Testament, and broadening my appreciation and thirst for the Word in the New Testament. I still sometimes cross reference questionable, or unattractive phrasing with the New King James Version.The only negative is how close the printing is to the binding. I have had to fold the Bible over in my hand to see all the way, but my binding is still firm and intact.We have given many of these Bibles as a gift to people we love. I recommend this Bible.
Great Bible other than I could barely open it and much of the center text was lost in the middle.
I really wanted a NLT for my birthday because I love how it reads, but the font is way too small. I get tired of reading it after just a short while. The pages are thick, so I guess that's a bonus, but I would've traded thinner paper for larger font. I will be donating this one (since it was a gift from my young son and the keepsake page has my name on it...) and will be purchasing a different one. Disappointing.
I ordered this bible for my youngest daughter and she loves it. When you first get It does have a rubber smell but it goes away after a while. The words are close to the crease but not as close to the point were you can’t read it. The print is small so I do not suggest it for people who have trouble seeing fine print. My daughter says the NLT version is a lot easier to comprehend than the KJV. The cover of the Bible is very smooth and nice. Overall my daughter really likes the Bible and we would recommend it for anyone who is looking for the word of Christ in a more understanding way.
