Tom is a really good songwriter. He provides snippets of stories about each lyric included, as well as chord changes for the tunes, which are useful only if you have the tune available to listen to in order to get the melody and timing.

A great book of many of the best "Americana" songs ever. And some damn fine art as well. You can't go wrong here if you're a Tom Russell fan. And if you're not a fan, come join us.

Anyone not familiar with Tom Russell, is missing one of the finest singer, songwriters alive today. His body of work is impressive and will be relevant forever. Simply the best.

Tom Russell has a 30+ year body of work, that marks him as one of America's best male song writers, this book covers the stories behind most of them, it is essential if you want to really know what you are talking and singing about.

If you love his music and the poetic tales of the lifer, you will love this book of his lyrics. I have read it over and over, and it still brings me joy.

A must have for a Tom Russell fan. The book includes lyrics and basic guitar chords (very basic on the chords). The thing that makes the book great is the stories behind the scenes and about the songs that Tom includes.

I would give it five stars except I can't find American Rivers in it. Are there any other major songs missing?
