Very informative book.
I purchased this book as a newcomer to drawing with a desire to draw people beyond my ‘stick figure’ capabilities. The book is a great step-by-step guide on how to draw the human form for beginners. Each step was clearly explained and achievable for someone relatively new to drawing. It starts off with drawing stick people to learn proportions and each chapter gets progressively more advanced until you’re drawing fully formed bodies with muscles. I liked the way each chapter builds on the previous chapter and that there are plenty of illustrations to show you what to do. It’s not about drawing a portrait for me, so it suits the goal I have in mind quite well.

I bought Jeff Mellem’s previous book for my father and he really loved it, so I’m excited to give him this book. I’m not an artist myself but I can see that it’s a great starting point for learning to draw people. It starts off really simply so it’s not intimidating to start the lessons. By the end you’ll be drawing people with all the muscles.The part I like the most was pages 56-57 on how to draw eyes. That really showed me that if you don't get the eyes right you can miss the whole message of the piece you're working on.There are lots of books that cover drawing the figure, but a lot of them are more reference guides than a how-to guide. I think this book gets a lot of things right and would be really useful to artists of any level.
Not bad. It provides some useful infornation. I purchased the book because I was using the on line PDF and that was getting weirsome.
I found "How to Draw People" a sound reference tool when I am struggling with my figure work. The step by step tutorials and final examples were very beneficial! I would highly recommend this book to any beginning or professional artists!
