After Sophia was diagnosed with food allergies, I began to cook allergy-free for our family. I bought several cookbooks, and read several others, and could not find anything that met my needs. I began creating my own recipes, and people (without allergies!) started asking me for my recipes. My husband said, "You should write a cookbook!" and so I did.

I've had this cookbook for a little over a month and have used it almost daily! I love that it has a full range of baked goods and meals in the same book.I have been dairy free for years, but recently had to cut a multitude of additional foods from my diet, including gluten, soy, eggs, nuts and more, and this book has been a life saver!I find most the recipes in this book are faster and easier to make than those in other allergy friendly cookbooks I have (including "allergy free and easy cooking"). The simplicity of the recipes also makes it easier for me to avoid the additional foods I'm sensitive to.

I recently was diagnosed with EOE and placed on an elimination diet. It is daunting to find recipies which I can eat, that don't take forever with ingredients that are hard to find. This cookbook has simple recipes that taste great and have made this dietary transition bearable. Thank you!

Both of my children (2 and 4) have wheat and dairy allergies, so I am always on the lookout for new recipes for them. I consider myself a good cook but these recipes are well within the reach of a beginner who finds themselves cooking out of necessity because of new-found allergies.This book is among my favorites because the recipes are both accessible (containing a handful of easy to find ingredients) and child friendly. I have many other gluten free cookbooks but this is the one I reach for most often because we have yet to try a recipe that fails to please.Oats are a common ingredient in the book as another reviewer noted but there are gluten free oats available. My daughter has gluten reactions to the basic quaker oats but we have used Bob's Red Mill (available here on amazon) with no problems at all.

I have a 2 year old who is allergic to dairy, eggs, soy, wheat, shellfish and nuts so I feel that this book was written especially for us. I have a pile of cookbooks for her but this is the only one that stays on my counter in my cookbook holder. The best part of this cookbook is that it uses everyday ingredients that I have at home. This enables me to make her something on the fly. Yesterday was the Cinammon Applesauce cake. I had every ingredient and it was so easy. My daughter also loves the meatloaf (I added garlic and gluten free bread crumbs to the recipe and removed the red pepper), chicken tenders (which I make with either corn flake crumbs or gluten free bread crumbs instead of potato chips). My next item to try is the chocolate cake. Oh, and let me tell you how amazing the fudge brownies are!!! Those get 5 stars alone. Even my 4 1/2 year old who is the pickiest eater with no allergies eats everything I cook from here. The main substitutions that the author has made are oat flour instead of wheat flour (and I send her my compliments for informing the readers how to make oat flour at home to save the cost of buying it - huge hit), rice milk over cow's milk and cocoa powder instead of chocolate. The one thing that is in some recipes is butter or margarine but I use an equal amount of palm oil shortening.For anyone with a food allergy (adult or child) this book will be your bible since it covers all the big allergens out there. I cannot recommend this book highly enough as I feel it has opened up so many windows for my daughter for foods that were previously banned from her diet (like brownies and cake that was not the weight of a brick).

Love it! This recipe book uses simple ingredients and simple recipes. With my daughter just being diagnosed with wheat, dairy, and egg allergies, we were very discouraged when we looked up any recipes. They all had twenty ingredients, most of which I couldn't find without driving an hour and a half. Then I ordered Sophie-Safe Cooking. This cookbook uses ingredients that are easy to find and the recipes are things that my kids would actually eat. I would recommend this so everyone who has a child with food allergies!

As a single mom of a toddler, I need recipes that are fast, inexpensive, delicious...and definitely kid-friendly for my food-allergic daughter! this little book fits the bill quite nicely. Most of the recipes I've tried are quite good (can't tell you how excited I was to see the cranberry bread actually rising in the oven and then it was light in texture, almost just like wheat!). Some of them need a little tweaking, usually just a little more sugar added to be as sweet as I like, but what the hey - they are still pretty good the way they are and I would much rather be getting creative in my cooking to meet my specific tastes than experimenting with ingredient substitutes just to make a recipe work at all! For a family dealing with multiple food allergies, this should be a staple!

This is a good starting point when you have a new diagnosis of food allergies. There is nothing new or earth shattering in this book by way of recipe, but it helps you feel like, oh, there are foods we can still eat and it gives you some very easy ideas for times when you just cannot think of what to eat.I think it is somewhat limited though, and will not work as your only food allergy cookbook resource.
