I was introduced to Dr. Jackie Freiberg's work by a mentor when I had the honor of seeing her present at a corporate function. Her presentation to our division when I was in mid-management was so impactful that it is one of a handful of moments I credit when I reflect on what helped propel me to executive leadership. For this reason I invited her to present to my team, and she presented the formative messages in this book. Now that the book is in print, I had to read it.If you are looking for simple messages and simple tools to help make sure your head is on straight as you navigate your career read this book. You will find yourself transformed and as a bonus; entertained. Week 9 still makes me laugh.Knowing that this already resonated deeply with a team of professionals, I wanted to see what my four boys, ages 12-17 thought. On a road trip they took turns reading each chapter aloud. As the trip went on, the extraneous noise and elbow jabbing that seems omni-present with this demographic decreased, you could literally tell by the silence that they were reflecting on the messages. Were they keeping good company? Did they want to be a Gentleman or a Jerk? Did they want to settle or be a Person of Impact? Very impressed with the latest book by Dr. Jackie Freiberg and Kevin Freiberg. More books should be presented in this unique fashion. The flow, layout, images and overall "flow" of the book is top notch. The 12 strategies (including "the how") explained in this book are essential to any person who wishes to have impact on their own lives and the lives of others. Self awareness is a key component of having impact on our own lives or the lives of others - the Freiberg's articulate this so well in their writing, graphics and overall package that make this an incredibly impactful and meaningful book. The writing is very accessible, captivating and organized in a special way that supports the learning process throughout the book. I am struck by how good this book is, I recommend it highly to any reader (it has messages for all of us).
